The primary neighborhoods and nearby landmarks of Berkeley are:

Berkeley Hills

Including the Arlington, Marin Ave, Grizzly Peak, Centennial Way, many custom architect homes, some with views, often larger homes with sloped lots.

Central Berkeley

South of University Avenue, a mix of Victorian homes, condos, bungalows. Near bicycle boulevards, and walkable to Downtown BART.

The focus is the shopping area at College and Ashby, many stately homes and some condos, desirable for proximity to shops and Rockridge.

Gourmet Ghetto

North Berkeley focused on Shattuck and Vine, larger homes and multi-unit properties, desirable for walking distance to restaurants and shops. Close to UC Berkeley but doesn’t feel like campus housing.

South Berkeley neighborhood in up and coming commercial district near Alcatraz and Adeline and very close to the Ashby BART station.

North Berkeley

Multiple neighborhoods of the Berkeley Hills, Thousand Oaks, Northbrae.
